Area Information

With its warm blue waters and red sandstone landscape, Utah's newest state park is also one of its most popular. You can boat and fish on Sand Hollow Reservoir, or ride the dunes of Sand Hollow Mountain on your favorite OHV and then head to the campground for a night of rest under the stars. The park encompasses 20,000 acres, 15,000 of which are perfectly sculpted dunes waiting for you to make tracks. The Sand Mountain OHV area offers 6,000 acres. ATV riders must wear a helmet, and all vehicles need to have a whip flag for safety and visibility. The only downfall to this area is that you can't ride your vehicle from the overnight camping area to the dunes. You must transport your machine from to the OHV staging area, which is about two miles away. This area is a zero tolerance location, meaning DUI laws apply and alcohol use while riding in the park is strictly prohibited. Youths between the ages of 8 and 16 years must be certified to legally ride and drive an OHV on public lands. For more information about certification, as well as the complete rules and regulations to use the area, visit the web-site above. This area was recently featured in our March/April 2008 issue.
